Some words from our partner shelters
Western Carolina Rescue Ministries
On behalf of all of us at Western Carolina Rescue Ministries and Cleveland County Rescue Mission, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generous donation of the Stockings of Love for the women we serve. Each stocking was filled with so much thought, care, and intention. You didn’t just provide needed items, you gave a tangible reminder of dignity, love, and hope. Every woman who received a stocking felt seen, valued, and deeply blessed by the kindness poured into each one. We are incredibly grateful to every donor who made this possible. Your generosity truly blessed our residents and our teams, and it meant more than words can fully express. Thank you for loving our women so well and for partnering with us to bring light and encouragement into their lives.
— Amanda Putnum, Chief Development Director, Western Carolina Rescue Ministries Helpmate
No one chooses to stay in an emergency domestic violence shelter, let alone over the holiday season. It’s incredibly important to me that we intentionally invite in love, light, and cheer while holding space for the heavier realities. Gestures of kindness and dignity like these stockings go a long way when your autonomy and self-worth have been stripped away by someone meant to love and cherish you. I’m so grateful to Stockings of Love for remembering survivors this holiday season!
— Helpmate Staff REACH of Haywood County
As the Director of REACH of Haywood County, it truly warms my heart to see people like Sadie and her project, Stockings of Love, reach out to our organization. When she learned that our team operates a shelter for women and families fleeing violence, she responded with thoughtful care. The stockings she provided for our clients during the holidays were a simple yet beautiful gift, especially meaningful at a time when many are longing to feel surrounded by love and joy. This act of kindness reminded our clients that they are seen, that hope is real, and that someone, somewhere, was thinking of them and wishing them comfort during a difficult season.
— Sara Vogel, Executive Director, REACH of Haywood County Abba’s House, Western Carolina Rescue Ministries
The nail grooming kit was a hit for the ladies at Abba’s House along with the African American hair products. The ladies were so excited to receive stockings filled with items that were useful. One client said and I quote: “It has been years since I received a stocking and gifts for Christmas.” Thank you again for the loving kindness that was shown the Western Carolina Rescue Ministries.
